Respite and Healing
At the end of January 2020, I had the opportunity for a little over 24 hours of respite. A friend and her husband graciously let me stay at their house while they were away for the weekend.
I went into that day overwhelmed at the complicated things surrounding me.
During this time I was so thankful that all the physical noise was paused. I could be still (literally) with God and take time to seek him with no interruption. It was a time of rejuvenation of my soul and oneness with my maker.
After reading the bible and a few other books pointing me to wholeness only found in Christ, I felt compelled to sit down and write. This was the summary after many pages that morning.
So thankful I can look back on this mere months ago and remember God’s faithfulness then and now. We find him when we seek him, just like the disciples wrote about. We find him when we seek him with all our hearts.
I look back at that journal entry and the lyrics from My Father’s House surface… “Sometimes in our journey we get lost in our mistakes.” Oh how I need to remember we are never too far gone for God to redeem what we have done or what has been done to us.
I am so thankful for the grace of God. I am so thankful for the healing in my life and body. Piece by piece God rebuilds us. And like that video by the young English poet said… “Sometimes we have to get sick, before we start feeling better.” God does his best work in broken vessels. We can’t heal pretending things are ok or perfect. True redemptive healing comes from Latros (the Great Physician).
Praying during this time of quarantine for ultimate healing, from the inside out, for each person reading this.
May God bless you all and shine his face upon you in radiant light. May you feel the peace that surpasses understanding. May the joy in your heart come from knowing who you are in Him and the freedom to live that out imperfectly and unexpected as God intended it.
