Teachable Spirit

16 For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 CSB

Sister, I pray you live fulled loved today knowing you are known by our Creator. May you dwell in His word today and let it light your path for the week.

This morning as I poured over the book of Judas, 1 John, and Peter, I continued to pray, and sought wisdom in regards to a teachable spirit.

For example, during graduate school courses of evangelism and leadership, we are taught that being a great leader means that you remain curious. What does it mean to remain curious? To have curiosity of life can be defined as wanting to seek to understand and learn new things. Further, if you google the word curious, it means to be eager to learn something. In other words, having a teachable spirit means having a spirit that is humble to learn. Where are places to learn new things? Some suggestions are books, people, authors, seminars, events, podcasts, and connecting with others. Ultimately, for christians via the local church, curiosity entails a willingness to learn from elders and pastors. Ultimately, we remain curious so that we can love well through the lens of the gospel and understand God’s word.

I pray today as you go about reading the Bible, praying and loving the Lord, you remain having a teachable spirit.

I pray for followers of Christ that you adhere to an upside down kingdom approach. In other words, the way the world learns may be through Facebook, Instagram, and such. Please heed my warning that these can’t be your primary sources of information. In God’s economy, there are scholarly sources to learn information from places such as a quality university, studying theology, studying theologians, reading about missionaries, and spending time daily in the Bible.

I caution you not to be as pagans live who go about living whichever way the wind blows. I pray fervently for you to root yourself in Christ today.

Colossians 2: 6-7 (NIV) says this: So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

I pray that your eyes remain fixed on Jesus who is our author and perfecter of our faith.

Peace be with you today and always!

Xoxo
