Do you need to Halt?
Are you like my friend that sometimes we get overwhelmed with all the tasks in our day?
As a momma, I have mom tasks, and as a nonprofit Director I have those tasks. What about housework or laundry, and oh don’t forget about our furry dog Huey (our cavapoo) that needs to be walked!
What can we do?
We can HALT. Those synonyms are also good to describe how we can get when we get overwhelmed.
Could we be hungry, angry, lonely, or tired (HALT)? Often HALT means that we are in one or more of those states and need to assess what our needs are.
On this rainy morning, I am definitely tired and already starting to get hungry for lunch! Probably a pretty normal occurrence for us all.
What about you? Do you see yourself in a HALT moment?
When we are in those moments, we can pause, breathe, and meet our needs.
If we are tired, perhaps a 10-minute nap. If we are hungry perhaps a healthy snack. If we are lonely perhaps call a friend or loved one. If we are angry then perhaps do some j0urnaling to get at the root of anger. after all anger stems from sadness so finding out what one is sad about is crucial.
Ultimately, we can find ways to honor what we are feeling.
This then honors God because He wants us to honor our bodies which He gave us when he formed us in our mother’s wombs. Honoring our bodies, honors God.
